JOB TITLE:
Full Time Animal Care Technician
  • swing duties
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • may be up to 37.5 hours per week (depending on position)
  • variable hours, including weekends and holidays
  • care and feeding a variety of species including orphaned or injured wildlife
  • record keeping
  • diet preparation
  • maintaining cleanliness in animal care areas
  • general hospital cleaning, including mopping floors, laundry, dishwashing
  • participation in release of wildlife
  • administration of medications
  • animal handling and restraint
  • helping with care of outdoor patients
REQUIREMENTS
  • able to work outdoors in all types of weather
  • able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • possess good communication skills, a positive attitude, be able to follow directions, and work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • good customer services skills
  • rabies pre-exposure vaccines not necessary but helpful

  • Will report to the Rehabilitation Manager or Operations Manager in his/her absence Florida Wildlife Hospital is a nonprofit organization dedicated to keeping wildlife wild by providing quality, compassionate care.
Florida Wildlife Hospital & Sanctuary, Inc., is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping sick, injured, and orphaned native Florida wildlife and migratory birds with the mission of returning them to their place in the environment. Over 7000 patients were admitted in 2024. We are permitted to work with all native species except sea turtles, alligators, venomous snakes, and marine mammals. This is a unique opportunity to learn about and participate in the care of Florida's native wildlife.
