Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Kennel Attendant to join our veterinary hospital team. As a Kennel Attendant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the comfort and well-being of animals in our care. You will assist with the daily care, feeding, and maintenance of kennel areas and facility, while supporting our veterinary staff with animal handling and medical care.

  • 2 PM Tuesday and Thursday Key Responsibilities Animal Care Provide daily care to animals, including feeding, watering, and administering prescribed medications as directed by veterinarians or technicians.
Ensure that all animals are comfortable, clean, and have proper bedding. Monitor the physical and emotional well-being of animals and report any concerns to the veterinary team. Cleaning & Sanitation Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kennel areas, including cleaning cages, runs, play areas, swimming pool and animal bedding. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the hospital areas and all other areas of the facility, including the hallways, bathrooms, and lobby. Properly disinfect and sanitize all areas to minimize the risk of infection, disease, or injury. Animal Handling & Transport Safely handle and restrain animals for veterinary exams, treatments, or grooming, following hospital protocols. Transport animals between treatment areas, exam rooms, and outdoor exercise areas as needed. Conduct and supervise enrichment activities for animals in our care by utilizing knowledge of animal behavior,and positive reinforcement techniques. Record Keeping Assist with the documentation of animal care activities, including feeding schedules, medication administration, and behavior observations. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of the animals in your care. Guest Service Provide friendly, compassionate service to pet owners, answering basic questions and ensuring their animals' needs are met during their stay. Work as a team member to ensure smooth daily operations of the facility. Support to Veterinary Team Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with sample collection for diagnostic tests. Help with handling and preparing animals for boarding and grooming appointments. Qualifications Previous experience in animal care, kennel management, or a veterinary hospital setting preferred, but not required. Strong love for animals and a compassionate nature. Ability to handle animals of various sizes and temperaments safely. Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and organization. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Good communication skills and the ability to interact with pet owners and team members professionally. Non-students preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods. Ability to work in an environment that may include exposure to cleaning chemicals, animal waste, and noise. Work Schedule Full-time and part-time positions available. Flexible scheduling with weekend, holiday, and evening shifts required.
