Kailua Pets is hiring a part-time team member for a bather-focused, client-facing position . This is primarily hands-on grooming-floor work, not a front-desk job. The right person will help bathe, dry, brush, prep, and safely handle dogs while also creating the warm, relationship-based client experience that is central to Kailua Pets. We are a calm, low-stimulation dog grooming spa with a strong focus on skilled handling, skin and coat health, and long-term trust with both dogs and their people. Our standard is Beautiful grooms built on trust. Reliable availability Friday, Saturday, and Sunday is required. Actual hours may vary with appointments, events, and business needs. Additional weekday hours may become available as the position grows. Responsibilities Bathe, condition, dry, brush, comb, and prepare dogs according to Kailua Pets training and SOPs. Safely handle and move dogs, recognize when a situation is beyond your current training, and ask for help promptly. Learn nails, ears, coat preparation, behavior-support handling, and other Professional Bather skills as trained. Keep bathing and grooming areas clean, organized, stocked, and ready for the next dog. Help with laundry, disinfecting, cleaning, restocking, and normal shop operations. Greet clients and dogs warmly, assist with check-in and check-out, and communicate clearly about their dog's needs and appointment. Support scheduling, rebooking, new-lead follow-up, and other client communication when assigned. Learn how Kailua Pets explains what makes our care different in a natural, non-salesy way and help build long-term client relationships. Work independently within established systems, notice what needs attention, follow through, and support the team without waiting for every next task to be assigned. We are looking for someone who Has reliable Friday, Saturday, and Sunday availability. Is comfortable with active, physical work involving dogs, water, dryers, hair, cleaning, standing, bending, and repetitive hands-on tasks. Communicates warmly, clearly, and confidently with clients. Is dependable, self-directed, observant, and willing to take ownership of assigned responsibilities. Can follow detailed SOPs and checklists while using good judgment and asking for help when needed. Enjoys both dogs and people. Has professional grooming, bathing, animal-care, or customer-service experience, although direct grooming experience is not required. Kailua Pets provides structured in-house bather training.

Pay:

$18/hour during training, progressing to $20/hour when full Professional Bather competency is consistently demonstrated. A higher starting rate may be considered for substantial directly relevant experience. There is room for the right person to grow into additional grooming-assistant work, client-experience responsibilities, community outreach, and additional weekday hours.
