Pals for Paws Petsitting

Dog Walker/Pet Sitter

Entry-Level JobVerifiedNo experience needed

Job Description

Have people always told you you have a way with animals? When you're at a new friend's house, do you find yourself gravitating toward their cat? Are you the type of person who has a mental checklist of what needs to be done before you leave the house? We've got just the job for you! The Job Pals for Paws is looking to add a part-time daytime dog walker to our team! Our sitters independently walk 6-10 different dogs throughout the Coralville/North Liberty area, driving from house to house to do so. You'll meet dogs of all sizes and temperaments and get to enjoy the fresh air and outdoors, all without a manager breathing down your neck or co-worker drama. You can listen to music, audio books, or podcasts while you walk, and snuggle up with furry friends. The position available is Part Time
  • 10-20 hours per week, must Saturday and Sunday availability (on a rotating schedule), 10 a.m.
  • 3 p.m. availability on 1-3 weekdays (priority to Wednesday/Friday), and at flexibility to work a couple night hours (7-9 p.m.) per week. Skills If being a dog walker and taking care of animals sounds like your dream job, that's a great start. But this job also requires a pretty specific set of skills to be the perfect fit:
  • MUST love and be comfortable with animals. You like animals better than people? Perfect. Because you're not going to be seeing many people. Comfort with dogs, cats, small animals, birds, and reptiles a must.
  • MUST be fastidious about following instructions and keeping a schedule. You're dealing with living creatures—mistakes can be dangerous.
  • MUST thrive in controlled chaos and able to go with the flow in unpredictable situations. Animals are unpredictable, and clients are forgetful. Each day is different! You will be cleaning up poop!
  • MUST be reliable, responsible, and mature. You will be managing yourself throughout the day.
  • A good sense of humor helps!
Benefits Both positions include our pet-care specific liability insurance as well as worker's comp, and both receive tips as given by clients. If you've searched your soul and determined that indeed that list describes you, we'd like to meet you. Please describe your experience with animals with your resume/application.
