POSITION OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSE

The Animal Care Specialist is responsible for providing support to breeding, farrowing or wean-finish teams. Work with your manager on establishing a schedule and weekend rotations will be included.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Tasks are dependent upon the department, but may include: Provide care for animals, ensuring they have access to food, water and a comfortable environment Assist with movement of animals Treat and vaccinate animals Maintain accurate documentation Assist in power washing Promote a safe work environment Maintain PQA certification status (provided on the job) Follow all SFI bio-security policies and procedures Exhibit strong teamwork, including working to achieve team goals, embracing new technologies, working on new projects, etc. Be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. with reasonable accommodation Additional Duties Demonstrate Schwartz Farms' values of humility, care integrity, discipline, and excellence. Advocate and engage in SFI's animal welfare policy, including promoting animal well-being, remedying circumstances which impede animal care, and properly reporting instances of mistreatment or abuse Maintain and promote a safe working environment Additional duties may be assigned as they arise Availability Weekdays Preferred Monday, Tuesdays, Thursday & Fridays
