Andover, MA Job Details Part-time $20 - $22 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Paid time off 401(k) matching Qualifications Companion animal handling Service scheduling Greeting customers Dog handling Pet care facilities POS systems Office phone management Full Job Description Love dogs and thrive on a busy day? Town Dog is hiring a mid-week receptionist to run the front of our dog daycare and grooming salon. You'll greet pups and their people, keep seven groomers' schedules full, and get your steps in running dogs between the front and back of the house. About the job Town Dog is a busy dog daycare and grooming salon, and we're looking for a Receptionist to keep our front desk running smoothly on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8am to 6:30 pm (total of 30 paid hours). This is a fast-paced, hands-on role for someone who is as comfortable with a leash in hand as with a phone on their shoulder. Your day starts and ends with dogs. In the morning you'll help check in daycare and boarding pups and run them from the front of the house to the back; in the evening you'll bring them back up for pickup. In between, you'll keep our schedule moving: with seven groomers working Monday through Saturday, grooming appointments are booked, confirmed, and rescheduled all day long. This is not a sit-at-the-desk job. If you like being on your feet, enjoy a room full of happy dogs, and can juggle a ringing phone, a line at the counter, and a wiggly Labrador at the same time, you'll fit right in. What you'll do Greet clients and their dogs warmly at check-in and pickup, and handle the front desk with a calm, friendly attitude even when it's busy. Safely move dogs between the front and back of the house each morning and evening, including leashing up, managing gates, and keeping doors secure so no one slips out. Book, confirm, reschedule, and cancel grooming appointments for seven groomers, keeping the calendar full and accurate. Confirm grooming and boarding appointments by phone, text, or email, and follow up on no-shows and last-minute changes. Book and manage boarding reservations, including check-in and check-out details, vaccination records, and special care notes. Answer phones and messages, respond to new-client questions, and explain our services and pricing. Process payments and invoices, and handle daycare package and membership sales. Keep client and pet records current, including vaccinations, feeding instructions, and behavior notes. Pass along important details between the front desk, groomers, and daycare team so nothing gets missed. Help keep the lobby, front desk, and dog areas clean and organized. What we're looking for At least one year of experience as a receptionist or in a similar front desk role. Comfortable handling dogs of all sizes, including large and energetic ones. Experience at a daycare, kennel, vet office, or grooming salon is a plus but not required.
Strong multitasking skills:
you can take a call, greet a client, and watch the door at once without losing track of any of them. Confident with scheduling and phone etiquette, with a clear, friendly, professional voice. Good with computers and quick to learn scheduling and point-of-sale software. Dependable and on time, with a positive attitude and a real willingness to jump in wherever the day needs you. Able to work every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM. Able to meet the physical requirements listed below, with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical demands and work environment This is an active job, and we want you to know that up front. You'll be on your feet for most of a 10.5-hour day, walking and moving dogs between the front and back of the house at the start and end of every shift. Regularly lift and carry up to 50lbs (for example, a small or medium dog, or bags of food and supplies). Walk, stand, bend, kneel, and move quickly for long stretches. Handle leashed dogs of all sizes, including strong and excited ones. Work in a fast-paced setting with constant interruptions and competing priorities.
