Job Description

Baywater Animal Rescue is searching for a full-time Kennel Technician. This person will play a vital role in the daily care and well-being of the animals in our rescue. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean and healthy environment, providing compassionate care to dogs and cats, assisting with basic veterinary procedures, and helping potential adopters find the right pet for their family. Responsibilities Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, play areas, and common spaces. Feed, water, and monitor the health and behavior of animals. Walk dogs and provide daily exercise and enrichment. Assist with light veterinary tasks, including administering medications as directed, preparing animals for exams, monitoring recovery, and maintaining medical records. Observe animals for signs of illness or injury and report concerns promptly. Laundry, dishwashing, and general facility upkeep. Assist with animal intake and transport as needed. Meet with potential adopters, answer questions, and help match families with the right animal based on lifestyle and needs. Qualifications Passion for animal welfare and rescue. Comfortable working with dogs and cats of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments. Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in various weather conditions. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to remain calm in fast-paced or emotionally challenging situations. Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team. Previous experience in animal care, veterinary medicine, boarding facilities, shelters, or rescue organizations is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate. Must have a flexible schedule and be able to work weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime as needed.
