Job Description

Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary is a 400 acre non-profit refuge located in Poolesville, MD, which provides a permanent home for over 250 rescued horses, cows, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens and turkeys. Responsibilities include feeding and watering rescued animals, cleaning barns, cleaning outdoor areas and food and water bowls, restocking feed, caring for and medicating animals with oral and injectable medications.
Qualifications for the position are:
Excellent animal behavior observation skills Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions Able to perform strenuous physical labor and lifting (applicant should be in good physical condition with no back problems, and must be able to lift 50 lb. feed bags and bales of hay. Able to work well with a variety of people Very reliable, dependable and trustworthy (must have your own car that is reliable) Passionate about animal welfare/animal rights and veganism Most importantly
  • a genuine desire to give a good quality of life to the rescued animals Hours
  • Monday thru Friday 8 a.m
  • 1 pm, must be willing to work most holidays at overtime rates.
Some weekend work will be required occasionally on event days.
