An Animal Care Worker or Manager manages animal care and grooming for a retail store that sells pets or for a pet grooming business. May also provide animal care and grooming at a kennel. Works with animals in shelters or rescue organizations. Works primarily with dogs and cats. Assists veterinarians with vaccinations or other procedures; screens people who want to adopt an animal from a shelter and provides information about caring for animals.

Job Description
- Assist in the daily care of animals including feeding, watering, and walking
- Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and animal living areas
- Monitor animal behavior and report any health concerns to manager
- Administer medications as directed by veterinarian
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic, pet sitting, or animal care is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of basic animal care practices and procedures
- Ability to handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments (leash pulling and jumped on)
- Experience with heavy lifting as some animals may require assistance and other heavy lifting. Must be able to lift 50 pounds (bag of dog food)
- Must help keep facility and property clean and functionable (sweep, mop, dust, shovel snow, fill dirt holes etc.)
- Front desk duties include: answering phone, greet clients, help run dogs/cats to the back, check in and check out clients, etc.
- Must be able to work weekend and holidays lifting.
