What the work looks like Most days, you'll be out walking dogs while their people are at work. When clients travel, you'll care for cats in their homes, keeping routines steady and stress low. Every visit is a chance to be the highlight of a pet's day. Dog walking runs Monday through Friday, generally 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Expect to walk 5 to 7 miles a day. This job keeps you moving. You'll drive your own vehicle from client to client, averaging about 100 miles per 20 hours worked. Some after-hours care opportunities are available if you want them.
