As a locally owned and operated Pet Supplies Plus franchise, MPM Retail Holdings depends on skilled Groomers who provide safe, high-quality services, build lasting relationships with neighbors, and create a positive experience for every pet in their care. The Groomer is a commission-based position responsible for completing professional grooming services based on each pet's needs, the neighbor's instructions, and applicable breed standards. Groomers are expected to protect pet wellness and safety, maintain a clean and organized salon, recommend appropriate products and services, and contribute to the continued growth of the grooming business. Key Responsibilities- Provide professional grooming services, including brushing, bathing, drying, conditioning, clipping, trimming, and styling. Groom and style pets according to neighbor instructions, the pet's condition and needs, and applicable breed standards. Evaluate each pet's coat, skin, behavior, and overall condition before and during services and communicate concerns appropriately. Maintain pet wellness and safety by following approved handling, restraint, sanitation, equipment, and incident-reporting procedures. Consult with neighbors to understand their expectations, explain recommended services, and provide clear follow-up care information. Build long-term neighbor relationships through dependable service, professional communication, appropriate recommendations, and rebooking. Complete required grooming records, service documentation, and other assigned administrative responsibilities accurately and on time. Successfully complete and maintain required safety training and certifications. Clean and sanitize grooming tables, tubs, kennels, tools, equipment, and surrounding salon areas throughout the workday. Maintain personal grooming tools and provide required equipment, including clippers, blades, scissors, and related supplies. Support community outreach and local marketing efforts that help attract new grooming neighbors and strengthen store relationships. Continue developing grooming skills, pet-handling knowledge, and service techniques through training, coaching, and practice. Communicate pet health, safety, neighbor service, scheduling, or operational concerns to store leadership promptly. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned based on the needs of the business. Role Expectations- Groomers are expected to take ownership of the safety, quality, and neighbor experience associated with every appointment. This includes preparing for scheduled services, communicating clearly with neighbors and store leadership, maintaining accurate records, and providing consistent professional results. Successful Groomers contribute to a clean, cooperative salon environment while building client loyalty and helping grow the store's grooming business. Qualifications- High school diploma or GED required. At least one year of professional grooming experience required, supported by formal grooming training or experience under an established groomer. Demonstrated knowledge of grooming techniques, breed standards, pet handling, and salon safety. Strong communication, organization, customer service, and time-management skills. Ability to safely handle pets of different sizes, temperaments, and physical conditions. Ability to provide and maintain required grooming equipment, including clippers, blades, and scissors. Dependable with reliable transportation. Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to stand for extended periods and frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive hand movements. Ability to safely move or lift merchandise, equipment, or pets weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to complete and maintain all required company training and safety certifications.
