Performs all duties/essential job functions of the Animal Care Technician. 2. Supervises assigned shifts and works with Animal Care Technicians to maintain a clean, safe environment for our pet guests. 3. Monitors and motivates animal care staff, reports absences/tardy; assists with counseling as necessary. 4. Provides clean bedding and fresh water to each new pet guest. 5. Directs and ensures the cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting of all used dog suites and cat condos on assigned shifts. 6. Makes sure each boarded animal receives the correct type and quantity of food each meal. 7. Ensures pets have clean water at all times. 8. Monitors and accurately charts consumption and elimination of each and every pet guests; brings problems to the attention of the Center Manager or Animal Care Manager. 9. Performs several walk-throughs each day to ensure pet guest safety and well-being in the boarding areas. 10. Cleans up pet excrement as needed. 11. Performs Playtimes as needed. 12. Monitors pet belongings; cleans belongings as needed; assures the return of pet belongings to owners. 13. Maintains kitchen in clean orderly manner. 14. Oversees and performs daily laundering of pet bedding and towels. 15. Monitors appropriate inventory of supplies; reports as necessary to Center Manager or Animal Care Manager. 16. Sees to the safe handling of all boarding pet guests; enforces safe handling procedures. 17. Monitors physical plant needs in the boarding areas and performs basic repairs as needed. Reports all other needed repairs to Center Manager. 18. Ensures a pet guest report is completed and given to the owner for every pet guest. 19. Supports the Mission and Philosophy of Best Friends Pet Care, Inc. 20. Treats customers, guests and co-workers in a professional, courteous manner; greets all customers encountered while performing work duties. 21. Assists other Associates as needed. 22. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Education:

High School Graduate or Equivalent Experience:

Minimum of 1 year animal care/kennel experience.

Animal Care Technician Certified Playtime Certified Physical:

Must be able to work evenings weekends and holidays. Must be able to frequently lift 40 pounds. Must be able to be on feet eight hours per day. Must be able to stand, walk, and climb stairs frequently. Must be able to work on computer system. Must be able to handle dogs on leashes. Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant/sanitation. chemicals, animal dander and excretions.

Personal:

Must have the ability to resolve problems quickly and professionally. Must have the ability to supervise, motivate and counsel Associates. Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must possess a love of animals. Displays a professional manner at all times.
