The ideal candidate will have a love for animals and experience in grooming various breeds of dogs and possibly other pets. This role involves providing high-quality grooming services while ensuring the comfort and safety of the animals in our care. The Pet Groomer will work closely with pet owners to understand their grooming needs and preferences, promoting a positive experience for both pets and their owners. Responsibilities Perform grooming services including bathing, clipping, brushing, and nail trimming for dogs and other pets. Assess the condition of each pet's coat and skin to determine appropriate grooming techniques. Handle animals safely and comfortably, using proper restraint techniques when necessary. Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding grooming options, pet care, and any concerns observed during grooming. Maintain cleanliness of the grooming area and equipment to ensure a safe environment for pets. Provide basic dog training tips to pet owners as needed. Assist with heavy lifting of larger animals when required. Collaborate with veterinary technicians or assistants if any health concerns arise during grooming sessions. Requirements Proven experience in pet grooming is preferred; certification in grooming is a plus. Skills in dog handling, animal restraint, and general animal care are essential. Knowledge of dog training techniques is beneficial but not mandatory. Experience with equine grooming is a plus for those interested in working with larger animals. Ability to perform heavy lifting as needed when handling larger breeds or multiple pets. A compassionate attitude towards animals and strong customer service skills are crucial. Previous experience as a veterinary technician, veterinary assistant, or in pet sitting will be advantageous.
