Job Description

At The EveryDay K9, we believe that successful dog training extends far beyond teaching commands. Our mission is to create lasting change by educating both dogs and their owners through individualized, balanced training programs. Unlike traditional boarding facilities, every dog in our care is either a current training client or has completed training with us in the past. Because of this, our boarding program isn't simply about caring for dogs—it is an extension of their training. Every interaction is an opportunity to reinforce the structure, behaviors, and expectations each dog has worked so hard to achieve. We're currently looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Part-Time Boarding & Canine Care Technician who takes pride in doing things the right way and wants to make a meaningful impact on the dogs entrusted to our care. Position Overview This is a flexible part-time position. While schedules may vary, our ideal candidate is available to assist with approximately 12 of our weekly boarding shifts . Our boarding schedule operates on a rotating basis, meaning you'll work a combination of morning, midday, and evening shifts throughout the week. Weekends, evenings, and holidays are expected as part of this role ; however, these shifts are shared among the team through a rotation, so you will not be scheduled every weekend or every holiday. Because the length of each boarding shift depends on the number of dogs in our care and their individual needs, this position is compensated on an hourly basis at $14.00 per hour.
Shift Schedule Summer Schedule Morning Shift:
Begins between 5:00-6:00 AM until care is complete
Midday Shift:
Begins at 1:00 PM until care is complete
Evening Shift:
Begins at 8:00 PM until care is complete
Winter Schedule Morning Shift:
Begins between 7:00-8:00 AM until care is complete
Midday Shift:
Begins at 2:00 PM until care is complete
Evening Shift:
Begins at 9:00 PM until care is complete Morning Pack Walk One of the highlights of our morning shift is our structured pack walk. Each morning, our boarding dogs participate in an approximately 1.3-mile pack walk, allowing them to receive exercise while continuing to practice loose leash walking, neutrality, engagement, and calm behavior in a real-world environment. This is an important part of our program, and applicants should enjoy being active and spending time outdoors. Responsibilities Feed and water dogs according to individualized instructions. Morning pack walks for all dogs Safely handle dogs using our balanced training methods, including e-collar handling. Reinforce each dog's training throughout every interaction. Complete the morning pack walk (approximately 1.3 miles) during morning shifts. Take dogs outside for bathroom breaks while maintaining leash manners and structure. Administer medications and supplements as directed. Monitor each dog's physical health, behavior, and overall well-being. Clean kennels, yards, bowls, and common areas to maintain a clean and safe environment. Record observations and communicate important updates to the training team. Help maintain a calm, structured environment that sets every dog up for success. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who: Is dependable and consistently punctual. Has exceptional attention to detail. Enjoys working with dogs and learning about canine behavior. Is comfortable following systems, routines, and established procedures. Can work independently while exercising good judgment. Is physically capable of handling dogs of various breeds, sizes, and temperaments. Is comfortable learning and implementing balanced training methods, including e-collars. Takes pride in maintaining a clean, organized environment. Is professional, positive, and a team player. Previous dog experience is appreciated but not required. We are happy to train the right individual who demonstrates reliability, professionalism, and a willingness to learn. Physical Requirements Applicants should be comfortable: Walking approximately 1.3 miles during morning shifts. Standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout each shift. Lifting up to 50 pounds. Working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Safely handling dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments.
