EQUINE CARE SPECIALIST

role. This part-time gig includes caring for our therapy equines— donkeys and horses —who are not only adorable and full of personality, but who are also important partners in our nonprofit's work. Care for additional animals (goats, cats, rabbits, hens, and ducks) may also be required, but will depend on the shift. Shifts are well-structured, checklists are abundant, and the view is to die for!

(Sat and/or Sun at least 4 hour shift); 8-24 hours per week available

Compensation:

All of our part-time hourly roles have a starting rate ($15/hour) that increases by at least 10% once the team member is independent from training and no longer needs an additional team member alongside for support. Additional increases with positive performance reviews (90-day mark and annually). Bonuses for working holiday shifts.

What You'll Do:

The feeding, cleaning, and care for our sweet creatures and their habitats. Equine Management tasks as needed including: meal prep as needed, recording inventory, preparing hay sources, organizing supplies, minor first-aid, basic repairs, etc. Operate and care for equipment (UTVs, golf carts, tractors, etc.) safely and confidently (don't worry, we will train you!) Work independently to complete tasks efficiently — without cutting corners! Communicate clearly with the team. Assist the team with other tasks as needed. Assist with Equuvation's special events as indicated by our annual calendar (2-3 events each year are mandatory for the entire team; others optional).

What You Bring:

AT LEAST 3 YEARS

of experience caring for equines who are turned out 24/7 — previous experience with senior animals, rehab/rescue cases, and injury management will be given preference. An ability to notice/recognize lameness, lacerations/punctures, colic, and other symptomatic conditions in equines. A love of caring for animals under all circumstances and during all weather. A strong work ethic and the ability to stay on task without constant supervision. A knack for balancing speed and efficiency with high-quality results. The willingness to get muddy, dusty, sweaty, cold, hot, and everything in between. Ability to lift 50lbs (a standard bag of grain or a full muck tub). Excellent communication skills. Reliability, positivity, and readiness for all shifts at the scheduled start time. A valid drivers license and dependable transportation. Compliance with all policies and guidelines set forth by the Employee Manual.
