Animal Care & Facility Assistant Position Type:

Schedule:
FT 5 days a week, including a weekend day, PT flexible schedule •Weekends are a must! About the Position We are seeking an energetic, self-motivated, compassionate, and dependable Animal Care & Facility Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate has a genuine love of animals, excellent people skills, high ethical standards, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. This position requires someone who is organized, thorough, able to prioritize multiple responsibilities, and willing to take initiative! Key Responsibilities Provide compassionate & safe patient care and handling of animals, using fear free method. Walk dogs multiple times daily, playtimes. Clean canine and feline cages, kennels, and runs daily. Feed and provide fresh water to all animals as directed. Maintain accurate and up-to-date cage cards and animal care information. Bathe animals as needed. Wash food and water dishes using the dishwasher. Maintain overall cleanliness and sanitation of the facility, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, disinfecting surfaces, and emptying garbage. Keep all areas free of odors, clutter, and fire hazards. Complete laundry, including towels and bedding. Restock towels, bedding, pet food, litter, and hospital supplies. Properly dispose of recycling and other waste. Properly operate steam and gas sterilization equipment. Clean and prepare surgical packs according to established procedures. Maintain safe walkways, including shoveling and salting as needed. Provide professional and courteous customer service. Participate in staff meetings and contribute positively to the team. Follow all facility safety, sanitation, animal-care, and operational procedures. Take initiative to identify and complete additional tasks when primary responsibilities are finished. Ability to work independently while also being an effective team player. Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities. Ability to perform the physical duties associated with animal care, cleaning, laundry, stocking, and facility maintenance. Previous animal-care, veterinary, kennel, shelter, or related experience is preferred.
