Job Description

New Skete Management, LLC oversees the operations of a Christian Monastic Community in Cambridge, NY. The Monks of New Skete are renowned for their breeding and training of German Shepherds and other dog breeds. New Skete offers a relaxed and friendly work environment that is truly unique. Currently, the Monks of New Skete are seeking a full-time Kennel Attendant . In this role, you will provide daily care for boarded dogs and assist with kennel maintenance. The Kennel Attendant is involved with bathing, grooming, exercising, feeding, administering medication, and monitoring the health and behavior of boarded dogs. The position also assists with cleaning kennels and runs, and may interact with clients as they pick up and drop off their dogs, and other duties may be assigned. The schedule is expected to be five days per week - Mon-Weds, Friday and Saturdays. The role requires attendance on-site, and is not eligible for remote work. Candidates should also be flexible with scheduling to accommodate business needs. To be considered for the role, you will have a high school diploma and have some knowledge of general canine care. A passion for animals, desire to work with dogs of all breeds, and experience working with dogs are highly desirable. You should also be familiar with general housekeeping and facility maintenance tasks. You must be able to speak and read English, and have reliable transportation. You will also need to meet the physical requirements of the position, including lifting up to 35 lbs. regularly, able to stand and kneel, and be walking dogs for the majority of the day.
