As a Kennel Attendant/Dog Boarding Specialist, you play a vital role in the daily care, safety, and well-being of our boarding and daycare dogs. This position requires someone who is dependable, physically active, detail oriented, and comfortable working with dogs of all breeds, sizes, ages and temperaments. The ideal candidate understands that animal care is both rewarding and demanding. You will be responsible for maintaining a clean, healthy environment while providing exceptional care and monitoring the physical and behavioral well-being of every dog. Primary Responsibilities Provide daily care for boarding and daycare dogs, including feeding, watering, medication administration (when trained), and monitoring health. Supervise individual and group play sessions while ensuring safe interactions between dogs. Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized kennel facility using proper cleaning and disinfecting procedures. Walk, exercise, and enrich dogs according to their individual care plans. Observe and report changes in behavior, appetite, mobility, or health concerns to management immediately. Maintain accurate feeding, medication, cleaning, and activity records. Assist with bathing, brushing, nail trims, and other basic grooming services when needed. Welcome customers during drop-off and pick-up while providing professional, friendly customer service. Answer customer questions regarding boarding services, pet care, and facility policies. Follow all safety protocols regarding dog handling, sanitation, and emergency procedures. Assist with laundry, dishwashing, waste removal, stocking supplies, and maintaining overall facility cleanliness. Support coworkers during busy boarding periods and holiday seasons. Ensure every pet receives individualized attention, affection, and compassionate care. Qualifications Previous experience working with dogs, animals, kennels, veterinary clinics, grooming salons, shelters, farms, or daycare facilities is preferred but not required. Genuine passion for animal care and welfare. Strong work ethic with excellent attendance and punctuality. Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle unexpected situations professionally. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Comfortable handling dogs of all breeds, sizes, and energy levels. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to learn canine behavior, body language, and safe handling techniques. High attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness. Physical Requirements This is an active position that requires: Standing and walking for extended periods. Lifting up to 50 pounds safely. Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching. Working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Exposure to barking, cleaning chemicals, pet hair, and animal waste.
