JOB DESCRIPTION

Works under the direction of the owner of Flying A Racing.

MUST HAVE 5 YEARS HORSE EXPERIENCE AT MINIMUM WITH RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION.

Requires physical strength, a sense of personal responsibility, and attention to detail. Must have reliable transportation and ability to pass a background check.

Duties include:

Cleaning stalls, runs, and paddocks Providing hay, feed, supplements, and water according to each horses schedule Clearing ice from water in winter Assisting with grooming horses daily Removing botfly eggs as needed Applying fly repellant as needed Putting on horse blankets as needed Turning horses into pasture or turnout Maintaining barn area and tack rooms - sweeping, washing, and general cleaning as needed Cleaning of buckets and tubs used for feeding and watering as neededCleaning all horse tack and equipment as needed Administering medications and appropriate wound care/bandaging First aide delivery to horse(s) and notify owner as soon as possible. Handling horse(s) for veterinarian, farrier, or owner during medical or other treatment and daily as required. Loading and unloading horses from trailer as needed Completing documentation of daily tasks via provided documentation tools Completing bi-weekly timesheet Maintaining open and effective communication with owners Working with and on large farm equipment as needed Other duties as assigned. Must provide at least three references for related work experience. Must be 18 years of age or older. This is a high paced ever-changing barn and the best candidate will have wonderful communication skills, the ability to multitask and have advanced equine experience.
