Job Description

Job Overview Start your animal-care leadership career with a clear path to growth. This Kennel Technician Supervisor-in-Training position is designed for a dependable, hands-on leader who wants to learn our facility from the ground up and grow into a supervisory role. You will gain real experience in kennel operations, animal care, sanitation standards, customer service, and team leadership while helping pets feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for. This position begins at $9.00 per hour during a 90-day probationary training period. After a successful evaluation, you may move into a Supervisor role with an immediate increase to $9.50 per hour, quarterly raises of $0.25, and $200 quarterly cash bonuses when team goals are met. This is an accelerated leadership track with a long-term pathway toward Manager by late next year. Responsibilities
  • Assist with daily kennel operations, including cleaning, sanitizing, feeding support, and maintaining a safe environment for animals and staff.
  • Support pet boarding and daycare activities to ensure animals are comfortable, monitored, and well cared for throughout the day.
  • Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques, patience, and awareness of animal behavior.
  • Participate in outdoor work tasks such as yard cleaning, exercise sessions, and enclosure maintenance.
  • Learn and help train team members on kennel procedures, animal behavior management, sanitation standards, and safe handling practices.
  • Provide excellent customer service by answering client questions and helping update pet owners on their pets' well-being.
  • Support team lifting efforts for heavy equipment or supplies while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
  • Demonstrate leadership by supporting Kennel Technicians, solving problems, and helping keep daily operations running smoothly.
The Opportunity and Career Path We believe the strongest supervisors are the ones who understand every floor-level responsibility. You will not be micromanaged; instead, you will be trusted to learn, take initiative, and demonstrate your leadership potential through your work.
  • Days 1-30 (learn and master) : Work alongside our kennel team to master our sanitation protocols, feeding and medication logs, animal behavior handling, and boarding and daycare procedures.
  • Days 31-90 (show initiative) : Begin shadowing the supervisory team and learning client management, scheduling, disciplinary protocols, inventory, team productivity, and the day-to-day responsibilities required to keep kennel operations running smoothly.
  • Day 90 (evaluation and promotion) : After a successful evaluation, you may be promoted to Supervisor, take ownership of operational standards, and begin demonstrating your ability to manage staff and maintain smooth daily operations. Qualifications and Prerequisites
  • At least one (1) year of prior professional kennel technician or veterinary technician experience.
  • Dependable, hardworking, and comfortable working in a fast-paced animal-care environment.
  • Able to work outdoors, support physical kennel duties, and assist with team lifting when needed.
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn supervisory responsibilities.
  • A genuine passion for animal care, teamwork, and excellent customer service.
