Job Description

SoHumane is looking for a dependable, hardworking team member ready to roll up their sleeves. This role is physically demanding and fast-paced. There's more kennel cleaning than there is cuddle time, and that's okay. If you're looking for hard, rewarding work that makes a real difference, we want to hear from you. The Role You'll split your time between animal care and adoptions. On the animal care side, that means feeding, cleaning, and monitoring dogs and cats, sanitizing kennels, handling animals of all sizes and temperaments, and following disease control and safety protocols. On the adoptions side, you'll be the first face people see when they walk through the door; guiding visitors through the adoption process, answering phones, responding to questions, and communicating with the public in a professional and welcoming way. Physical Expectations This is a physical role. You'll be on your feet all shift in a loud kennel environment, regularly lifting up to 50 lbs, working with cleaning chemicals, and handling unpredictable animals. The emotional side of shelter work is real too, and some days are harder than others. We're looking for someone who brings steadiness and reliability to both. Weekend and holiday availability is required. What We're Looking For Dependable, with a strong work ethic and consistent attendance Calm and steady in a busy, unpredictable environment Comfortable being the public face of the organization Customer service experience, with clear and professional communication Previous animal care experience is a plus, but not required
