Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic team as a Kennel Assistant and become a vital part of providing exceptional care and comfort to our beloved animals. In this energetic role, you will support the daily operations of our kennel facility, ensuring a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for pets in our care. Your enthusiasm and dedication will help create positive experiences for both animals and their owners, making a real difference in their lives every day. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in animal handling, pet care, and customer service while working in a lively, pet-focused environment. Being able to work independently is a MUST. This job is very demanding but the reward is so much greater when seeing dogs find there furever homes! Responsibilities Provide attentive pet care, including feeding, watering, administering medications, and monitoring health status. Maintain cleanliness of kennels, bedding, and common areas to ensure a hygienic environment for animals. Support pet grooming tasks such as bathing, brushing, and nail trimming to keep pets comfortable and well-maintained. Assist with dog handling and training activities to promote good behavior and socialization. Handle animal restraint safely during examinations or grooming procedures to ensure safety for pets and staff. Assist with heavy lifting of supplies or animals when necessary to support smooth daily operations. Provide excellent customer service by answering owner inquiries, updating them on their pets' status, and offering pet care advice. Observe animal behavior closely to identify signs of distress or health issues promptly. Experience Prior experience working with animals in a kennel or veterinary clinic type setting is desirable, but not required. Everything is trainable! Familiarity with pet grooming practices and pet sitting responsibilities is beneficial but not required Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including heavy lifting while maintaining safety standards.
