Job Description

Barkside Bay is seeking dependable, compassionate, and motivated individuals to join our growing team of Dog Walkers! As a Dog Walker, you will provide professional dog walking and pet care services while ensuring the safety, happiness, and well-being of every pet in your care. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being active, working independently, and building lasting relationships with pets and their families. Key Responsibilities Provide safe, engaging walks tailored to each dog's individual needs, age, and energy level. Safely transport dogs to and from local pet-friendly hiking trails for select adventure walk services. Provide drop-in visits for dogs and cats, including feeding, refreshing water, administering medications, and completing other assigned care tasks. Follow each client's customized care instructions while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism. Ensure the safety of pets by following company policies, leash safety practices, and local laws. Monitor pets for changes in health or behavior and promptly report any concerns. Clean up after pets during walks and visits, including pet waste and minor accidents when necessary. Take quality photos and write thoughtful visit reports through our company app after each service. Communicate professionally with management and provide clients with updates about their pets. Safely enter, secure, and respect clients' homes while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Build trusting relationships with pets and their owners through reliable, compassionate care. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old. Genuine love for animals and a commitment to providing exceptional care. Previous professional or personal pet care experience is preferred but not required. Comfortable handling dogs of various breeds, sizes, temperaments, and energy levels. Physically active and able to walk several miles each day in a variety of weather conditions. Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills. Dependable, trustworthy, and punctual. Comfortable working independently while managing a daily schedule. Valid driver's license, current auto insurance, reliable personal vehicle, and smartphone with reliable internet access. Physical Requirements Walk several miles throughout the day. Lift up to 50 pounds. Frequently bend, kneel, squat, climb stairs, and enter/exit vehicles. Drive between multiple client homes during scheduled shifts. Work outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions. Schedule This position offers flexible scheduling based on client demand and employee availability. Applicants should be available for a combination of morning, midday, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts, with midday availability being especially valuable.
