An Animal Care Worker or Manager manages animal care and grooming for a retail store that sells pets or for a pet grooming business. May also provide animal care and grooming at a kennel. Works with animals in shelters or rescue organizations. Works primarily with dogs and cats. Assists veterinarians with vaccinations or other procedures; screens people who want to adopt an animal from a shelter and provides information about caring for animals.
The Animal Husbandry and Maintenance Worker will assist with the care of a variety of farm animals and assist with the daily maintenance of park equipment, buildings, and grounds. The selected candidate for this position will be expected to work on weekdays, weekends and holidays as needed to perform essential tasks and duties. Perform daily feeding and watering of animals Perform daily mucking of stalls, barns and other areas where animals are housed. Perform routine maintenance of buildings and grounds (i.e. cleaning restrooms, trash removal, line trimming, fence repairs, mowing, painting as well as basic plumbing and electrical work. Install and maintain equipment or products for animal care. Perform other duties, tasks and special projects, as required. High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Mechanical ability. Ability to lift and carry items weighing more than 50 pounds, feed sacks, hay bales, etc. Ability to operate light tools and equipment. Accurate and detail-oriented with good communication skills. Ability to remain focused and follow written or verbal directions. Easily adapts to changes in the work environment. Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to work independently or as part of a team and proceed with objectives. Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. Exhibits sound and accurate judgement. Flexible, with an ability to carry multiple tasks to completion Exhibits a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn new tasks. Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
Additional education, certifications, or trade school courses Job-related experience working with farm animals. Job-related experience - general maintenance of buildings and grounds. Strong customer service skills. Relevant background checks, clearances, physicals, drug tests, and any other assessments or evaluations will be conducted after an offer of employment is given per County policy

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms above shoulder height; and climb ladders and stairs. Occasionally, the employee is required to stoop, kneel or crouch. Must be able to drive and operate a motor vehicle and small equipment. Manual dexterity to operate tools and an ability to lift and carry items weighing more than 50 pounds is required.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work environment may be subject to heat, cold, dust, fumes, noise and moisture. May be exposed to all weather elements.

Ability to work extended hours, if necessary. A valid driver's license is required.
