Kennel Assistant - Part-Time Holly Tree Animal Hospital - Simpsonville, SC 20-30 hours per week | 1-2 weekends per month About Us At Holly Tree Animal Hospital, we're passionate about providing exceptional veterinary care and treating every pet like family. We're looking for a caring, dependable Part-Time Kennel Assistant to join our team and help us provide excellent care for our boarding and hospitalized pets. Position Summary As a Kennel Assistant, you'll play an important role in ensuring the safety, comfort, cleanliness, and well-being of the animals entrusted to us. This is a hands-on animal care position that includes feeding, walking, cleaning, monitoring patients, and assisting our veterinary team as needed.
Please note:
This is a kennel position, not a veterinary assistant position. A large portion of this job involves cleaning and maintaining a safe and sanitary environment for our animals. What You'll Do Provide daily care for dogs and cats, including feeding, watering, walking, and exercising Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, runs, and common areas Clean up animal waste both inside the hospital and in outdoor exercise areas Monitor animal health, behavior, appetite, and bathroom habits and promptly report concerns Administer medications as directed by veterinary staff Assist with basic grooming tasks, including bathing, brushing, and nail trims Safely handle dogs and cats of different sizes, breeds, temperaments, and medical needs Assist veterinary staff with animal handling when needed Maintain accurate care and treatment records Perform general cleaning duties, including laundry, dishes, sweeping, mopping, and cleaning bathrooms What We're Looking For Previous animal care experience is
REQUIRED
Experience may include veterinary, kennel, boarding, grooming, shelter/rescue, professional pet care, volunteer work, or relevant animal-care education Personal pet ownership alone does NOT meet the experience requirement Comfortable safely handling dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments Dependable and able to work independently Strong attention to detail and ability to follow care and medication instructions Good communication and teamwork skills Willingness to perform the physical and cleaning responsibilities that are a major part of kennel work Availability to work approximately 20-30 hours per week Availability to work 1-2 weekends per month and rotating holidays Schedule Part-time Approximately 20-30 hours per week Weekday shifts 1-2 weekends per month Rotating holidays Weekend shifts may require working independently, so applicants must be comfortable caring for and safely handling dogs and cats without another kennel staff member present. Loving animals or owning pets is NOT considered qualifying experience by itself. Please briefly describe your professional, volunteer, educational, veterinary, kennel, shelter/rescue, grooming, or other relevant animal care experience. Some weekend shifts are worked independently. Are you comfortable working alone and safely handling cats with different temperaments and dogs of all sizes and temperaments? This is a part-time position averaging 20-30 hours per week and includes 1-2 weekends per month and rotating holidays. Are you available to work this schedule? This is a kennel position, NOT a veterinary assistant position. The job requires cleaning kennels and cages, walking and feeding animals, bathing pets, cleaning up animal waste inside and outside, doing laundry and dishes, and cleaning bathrooms.
