Job Description

On Paws Professional Pet Services | San Marcos, TX Do you love dogs and enjoy spending your day caring for them? Are you responsible, observant, and comfortable working independently? If so, we'd love to hear from you! On Paws Professional Pet Services is a locally owned pet care company serving the San Marcos area since 2015. We're looking for a dependable, animal-loving team member to help care for the dogs at our small boarding and doggy daycare facility. Position Overview We're hiring someone to primarily work Mondays and Tuesdays , with opportunities to pick up additional shifts when other staff members are unavailable. This position is responsible for closing the facility at the end of the day and ensuring every dog receives exceptional care in a safe, clean, and enriching environment. Schedule Mondays & Tuesdays Typical hours: 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM If needed, we're happy to adjust the schedule for the right candidate if availability is somewhat limited. Additional fill-in shifts may be available based on your availability. What You'll Do Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Supervising dog playgroups and ensuring safe, appropriate interactions Feeding dogs Administering medications Refreshing water bowls Cleaning kennels and indoor/outdoor play areas Scooping poop and maintaining a clean facility Providing playtime, enrichment, affection, and individual attention Monitoring each dog's behavior and well-being throughout the day Answering the phone and assisting customers with excellent customer service Important Requirements Because we are a small facility, you must be comfortable working independently. Unlike large daycare facilities, our dogs play in small, carefully managed groups and rotate between playtime and rest periods throughout the day. You will never be supervising a large crowd of dogs—in most cases you'll be working with no more than about six large dogs at one time —but you will be responsible for making good decisions and keeping every dog safe while working on your own.
Applicants must:
Be at least 18 years old Be dependable, punctual, and responsible Be comfortable working alone with groups of dogs Have excellent observation skills and attention to detail Be comfortable handling dogs of various sizes, breeds, and temperaments Be able to lift at least 50 pounds Have strong customer service and communication skills Be willing to work in a physically active environment Have a genuine love for dogs and their well-being Holiday Availability Because boarding is busiest when families travel, availability during our busiest seasons is required. Applicants must be available to work during: Thanksgiving Christmas Spring Break The days surrounding these holidays, not just the holiday itself Hours & Pay This is a part-time position and should be considered supplemental income , not full-time employment. Hours may vary depending on the season and staffing needs.
Compensation:
$13.00 per hour Opportunities for additional hours when covering staff absences Why Work With On Paws? At On Paws, we believe every dog deserves individualized care and every employee deserves to be treated with respect. We intentionally keep our playgroups small so we can focus on each dog's safety, comfort, and happiness.
