Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. As a Kennel Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing care and support to the animals in our facility. This position requires a love for animals, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Duties:
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, watering, and exercising
- Clean and sanitize kennels and animal living areas
- Assist with animal restraint during examinations and procedures
- Administer medications as directed by veterinary staff
- Monitor animal behavior and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate personnel
- Assist with basic dog training exercises
- Provide customer service to pet owners, including answering questions and providing information on pet care
- Assist with pet sitting services as needed
Skills:
- Experience with heavy lifting, as some animals may require assistance
- Knowledge of animal restraint techniques to ensure the safety of both animals and staff
- Familiarity with dog handling and training methods
- Basic understanding of pet care, including nutrition, grooming, and exercise requirements
- Previous experience working in a kennel or veterinary setting is preferred
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members
