Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team ages 21 and over. The ideal candidate will have customer service experience and a passion for animal care and welfare, providing essential support in a kennel environment. This role involves caring for pets, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring the well-being of animals in our facility. There will be some on-call with this position. The Kennel Assistant will play a vital role in creating a safe and nurturing environment for all animals. Duties Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, watering, and exercising pets. Maintain cleanliness of kennels and common areas by performing regular cleaning tasks. Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to lead staff. Support pet grooming activities, including bathing and brushing. Engage with pet owners to provide excellent customer service and answer questions regarding their pets' care. Help with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments. Participate in training sessions for dog training or behavior modification when applicable. Skills Knowledge of dog facility practices is preferred but not required. Experience with animal restraint techniques to ensure safe handling of pets. Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with pet owners. Familiarity with general pet care practices, including feeding and exercise routines. Previous experience working in a kennel or animal care facility is advantageous. Skills in dog training or behavior management are a plus. Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary (e.g., moving large bags of food or lifting larger dogs). A genuine love for animals and commitment to their well-being.
