We rely heavily on our Hospital Aides for everything from keeping our grounds and hospital clean, to feeding and caring for the animals in the hospital for the day, ordering supplies and pet food, proper holding of animals to support our Veterinary Technicians, working with clients and more. Cleaning, stocking, and patient handling experience are a big plus!
The job:
Our Hospital Aides have the primary responsibility for meeting the everyday need of patients staying in the hospital for the day, and for performing all hospital maintenance and upkeep; inside and out. Our Hospital Aides must enjoy and be very comfortable with dogs and cats of all sizes. They are expected to pay close attention to details, maintain high levels of patient care and
CLEANLINESS
of the hospital, interface with clients and more. Our Hospital Aides are expected to keep the hospital CLEAN and odor-free, and must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. A strong command of the English language and excellent reading/writing skills are required. The ability to clearly and effectively communicate with clients is an absolute must. Bilingual abilities (Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese) are a plus.
Physical demands:
Must be able to lift 40 pounds, use a ladder correctly, work on feet for the entire shift and handle cats, dogs, and occasionally other small pets. (Training provided for how to hold an animal, if not familiar).
Work Environment:
Animal Hospital in small building, work area is primarily in the back half of the hospital. High level of animal interaction, high degree of cleaning and exposure to disinfectants, potential exposure to radiation/anesthetic gases, blood, feces, and urine, and animal trauma. Moderate degree of client communication and interfacing.
Schedule:
Shifts are typically 7:30am-4:30pm, 8:15am-5:15pm or 9:00am-6:00pm M-F and 7:30am-4pm Saturday. Candidates will not be considered if they are not available to work the shifts mentioned above on a regular basis throughout the year. Salary $18-$21/hour DOE Experience working or volunteering in an animal hospital, animal shelter, humane society, etc. preferred.
