Job Description

Position Summary The Dog Handler at The Dog Stop is responsible for the supervision, safety, and engagement of dogs in daycare and boarding environments. This role ensures a clean, structured, and fun atmosphere while monitoring dog behavior, maintaining playgroup safety, and supporting daily facility operations. Key ResponsibilitiesDog Supervision & Safety Monitor and manage groups of dogs in play areas to ensure safe and appropriate behavior Recognize and respond to signs of stress, aggression, or illness Safely separate dogs when necessary and prevent conflicts Maintain control of playgroups at all times Animal Care Assist with feeding, watering, and administering basic care as directed Monitor dogs for health or behavioral concerns and report issues promptly Ensure dogs are clean, comfortable, and properly assigned to kennels Cleaning & Sanitation Clean and sanitize kennels, play areas, and common spaces regularly Immediately remove waste and maintain a hygienic environment Follow all cleaning protocols and safety guidelines Facility Support Assist with dog check-in/check-out transitions as needed Help maintain organization of supplies, equipment, and work areas Support team members to ensure smooth daily operations Daily Responsibilities Checklist Playgroups supervised and controlled at all times Dogs rotated safely between play, rest, and kennel time Kennels cleaned and sanitized throughout shift Water refreshed regularly Waste promptly removed from all areas Notes recorded for any incidents or concerns QualificationsRequired Passion for working with dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments Ability to stay alert and attentive in a fast-paced environment Strong reliability and work ethic Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures Preferred Experience in dog daycare, boarding, kennel, or animal care environment Basic knowledge of dog behavior and body language Pet CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Skills & Traits High energy and ability to stay engaged throughout shift Strong attention to detail and awareness Team player with a positive attitude Quick decision-making and problem-solving skills Patience and confidence handling dogs Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and be active for extended periods Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Comfortable working in a loud, active environment Willingness to perform cleaning tasks and handle waste Why Join The Dog Stop?
