Job Description
Job Summary As a Dog Handler, you will supervise dogs in daycare and boarding settings while ensuring their safety, health, and overall well-being. This is a hands-on, physically active role that also includes maintaining a clean and sanitary facility. Candidates must be comfortable working in a loud, fast-moving environment with dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments.
Responsibilities:
Dog Supervision & Care Monitor dogs in group play and boarding environments to ensure safe interactions and proper behavior. Recognize signs of stress, anxiety, or aggression and respond appropriately. Feed dogs and administer medications as directed. Provide dogs with exercise, attention, and enrichment activities. Cleaning & Facility Maintenance Clean and sanitize kennels, play areas, crates, bowls, toys, and bedding throughout the day. Promptly clean pet waste and maintain odor control standards. Follow all sanitation and safety procedures using approved cleaning products. Assist in keeping the facility organized and presentable. Customer Service Assist pet parents with drop-offs and pick-ups. Communicate professionally regarding dog behavior, health concerns, or special instructions. Maintain accurate feeding, medication, and incident records. Team Support Work closely with coworkers to ensure all dogs receive proper care and supervision. Assist other departments as needed. Participate in ongoing training and staff meetings. QualificationsRequired Passion for working with dogs and comfort handling dogs of all sizes and temperaments. Ability to work in a loud, high-energy environment with constant barking and activity. Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical tasks for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Reliable, punctual, and able to work weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts. Preferred Previous experience in dog daycare, boarding, kennel, shelter, or veterinary environments. Knowledge of canine body language and behavior. Pet First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
