Job Description

Requirements Job Overview The K9Edge is hiring energetic and skilled Dog Handlers to work in our busy daycare, boarding and training center. In this position, you will develop trusted relationships with our client dogs, and become an essential and welcoming part of their daily lives. You will learn each dog's unique behaviors, preferences, and stress triggers to ensure their happiness and well-being. This is not a seasonal position. Key Responsibilities Handle dogs of different breeds and sizes Leash walk dogs from and to the lobby, kennels, play and training areas Supervise, play with and exercise small groups and solo dogs Observe behavioral patterns, identify triggers and formulate personalized care Modify problematic behaviors utilizing various dog-handling techniques and skills Clean and sanitize sleep, play, training areas and gear Feed, water and administer medications per instructions Document feeding, elimination, medical needs, behavioral issues, and progress. Experience MINIMUM of 1 year of dog handling experience in a dog daycare and kennel setting. Proven experience working as a dog handler. Requirements A love for dogs. The ability to handle different breeds and sizes. Strong knowledge of dog body language. Work with a team and with minimal supervision and as a team. Have an observant, alert, and patient disposition. Quicky and calmly resolve problems and situations. Stand and walk for extended periods, lift 50 lbs. bend, stoop, kneel and crouch and push/pull equipment. Work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant/sanitation solutions, animal dander and secretions. Work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and some holidays. We rotate weekends and holidays as much as possible. Shifts are 4, 6 and 8 hours in length. Day shift starts at 6am. Evening shift ends at 8pm. Must be dependable and reliable. If you are often late for shifts, call out last-minute and/or frequently, this job is not for you. A valid driver's license and/or reliable transportation, and live locally. High school diploma or equivalent. References are required.
Pay:
$17.00 - $20.00 per hour
