Job Description
OVERVIEW
We are looking for a responsible, energetic, and compassionate Dog Handler & Walker to join our daycare team at our UWS dog daycare. This is a hands-on position responsible for the daily care, safety, exercise, and supervision of dogs in our facility. The ideal candidate genuinely loves dogs, is comfortable working with dogs of different sizes, breeds, ages, and temperaments, and understands that professional dog care requires patience, attentiveness, physical stamina, cleanliness, and excellent communication. This is an active, hands-on role. The successful candidate will spend much of the day on their feet supervising dogs, managing playgroups, taking dogs on walks, cleaning the facility, and ensuring that every dog receives safe, attentive, and high-quality care. This shift is part-time and typically Monday - Friday 10am - 3pm. Opportunities for additional hours, as needed. Must send your resume if you'd like to be considered.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Dog Daycare & Group Supervision Supervise dogs during open play, rest periods, feeding, and transitions. Maintain constant awareness of dog behavior, body language, energy levels, and group dynamics. Safely manage groups of dogs and maintain a calm, structured, and positive play environment. Recognize signs of stress, anxiety, illness, injury, overstimulation, or inappropriate behavior and respond appropriately. Intervene promptly and safely when play becomes overly rough or a behavioral issue develops. Follow all daycare safety procedures and protocols. Provide individual attention, enrichment, affection, and appropriate interaction throughout the day. Assist with introducing new dogs and maintaining appropriate playgroup assignments. Report injuries, incidents, behavioral concerns, or changes in a dog's health or temperament to management. Dog Walking & Exercise Take daycare dogs on scheduled relief, potty, and exercise walks. Safely leash and handle dogs of different sizes, breeds, and temperaments. Follow individual walking instructions and exercise requirements. Maintain control and awareness of dogs while walking in Manhattan's busy streets and public spaces. Pick up and properly dispose of dog waste. Monitor dogs during walks for signs of fatigue, overheating, discomfort, or unusual behavior. Maintain safe walking practices around traffic, pedestrians, other dogs, and environmental hazards. Feeding, Water & Basic Care Follow individual feeding schedules and owner-provided instructions. Prepare and distribute meals and treats appropriately. Keep fresh water available and refill water bowls throughout the day. Administer medications when authorized and properly instructed. Monitor dogs for changes in appetite, bathroom habits, energy, or behavior. Follow all special-care instructions provided by management or pet owners. Cleaning & Facility Maintenance Clean and sanitize daycare rooms, floors, crates/kennels, bowls, toys, and other equipment. Immediately clean up urine, feces, vomit, and other accidents. Sweep, vacuum, mop, disinfect, and maintain a clean and sanitary environment throughout the shift. Assist with laundry, waste removal, and general facility upkeep. Keep play areas, walking areas, storage areas, and equipment organized. Monitor cleaning and pet-care supplies and notify management when supplies are running low. Customer Service & Communication Greet clients and their dogs in a friendly, professional manner. Assist with dog check-in and check-out when needed. Communicate professionally with pet parents regarding their dog's day, behavior, feeding, walks, and general well-being. Relay important information and concerns to management and other team members. Maintain accurate notes and follow established procedures for documenting incidents or special instructions. Represent the daycare professionally at all times. Teamwork & Daily Operations Work collaboratively with all team members. Follow daily schedules, checklists, safety procedures, and company policies. Participate in opening and closing procedures as assigned. Assist with other reasonable daycare and pet-care duties as needed. Maintain a positive, respectful, and team-oriented workplace.REQUIREMENTS
MUSTLOVE DOGS
Speak English Legally eligible to work in the U.S. Comfortable handling dogs of all sizes and temperaments including large dogs Ability to remain calm and make good decisions in a busy dog-care environment. Reliable, punctual, responsible, and dependable. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to follow detailed instructions and established safety procedures. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Comfortable performing routine cleaning and sanitation duties. Ability to work on your feet for extended periods. Ability to walk and remain active throughout the workday. Ability to safely handle dogs and equipment as required by the position. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.Pay:
