Our roots trace back to the Animal Behavior Clinic of Portland and City Dog Country Dog, and for over a decade, our team of certified trainers, behavior consultants, and veterinary behaviorists has helped thousands of local dogs and owners work through everything from basic manners to complex behavior challenges. We're looking for an experienced, LIMA-minded behavior consultant or trainer to join our team and provide in-home coaching across the Portland Metro area. This role is open to Oregon/Washington residents only. What You'll Do Provide in-home and virtual Private Coaching and Home School Training sessions, tailored to each dog's and family's goals Work confidently with complex behavior cases, including fear, anxiety, arousal, and aggression (intra-household dog-directed aggression, owner-directed aggression, resource guarding, and bite histories up to Dunbar Level 3-4) Apply DS/CC, marker training, and functional assessment skills to build practical, lasting behavior change Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients, meeting them where they are and guiding them forward Participate in weekly CEU-eligible case discussions alongside our veterinary behaviorists, behavior consultants, and training team Who You Are 3+ years of professional training and/or behavior consulting experience Comfortable and confident working hands-on with complex, high-arousal, and aggression cases A strong communicator with excellent active listening and conflict-resolution skills Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated — this role sets its own schedule within some fixed requirements Committed to force-free, LIMA-based methods and the Standards of Practice adopted by IAABC, CCPDT, and APDT Has reliable transportation and is willing to travel 15-25 miles to see clients Certifications One of the following is required: CPDT-KA or

(CCPDT) KPA-CTP (Karen Pryor Academy) CCDT (CATCH Canine Trainers Academy) CTC (Academy for Dog Trainers) Priority consideration for any of the following: ACDBC or CDBC (IAABC) CBCC (CCPDT) CAAB (Animal Behavior Society) Schedule This is a flexible, self-scheduled role with two requirements: availability on one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday), and some weekday evening availability (after 4pm).
