In person D Pet Hotels Austin is a luxury indoor dog daycare, boarding, and grooming facility focused on providing high-quality care to all our guests—both human and canine! We are seeking an experienced Seasonal Dog Handler to support our team during the busy holiday season. This temporary position will run from October through January. Dog Handlers play an essential role in maintaining the health, safety, and happiness of our canine guests. We work closely as a team to provide safe playgroups, clean accommodations, attentive care, and a positive experience for every dog staying with us. Required Availability Applicants must be available to work weekends and holidays , including during our busiest holiday periods.
Available shifts include:
6:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m. Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Supervising dogs in playgroups and monitoring their behavior and interactions. Caring for dogs staying in our daycare and boarding suites. Completing feedings, water checks, potty breaks, and other assigned care routines. Cleaning up after our canine guests and maintaining a sanitary, safe, and healthy environment. Cleaning suites, play areas, dishes, bedding, and other areas of the facility. Documenting dog behavior, health concerns, and important observations. Greeting clients warmly and directing them to the front-desk team for assistance. Communicating clearly with supervisors and fellow team members. Assisting coworkers with additional tasks to ensure every guest receives proper care. Remaining flexible when animal behavior, occupancy levels, or daily operations require schedules and responsibilities to change. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old. At least one year of professional dog-handling experience is required. At least one year of experience in a pet daycare, boarding facility, kennel, veterinary facility, or similar environment is required. Must be available to work weekends and holidays. Must be comfortable handling dogs of all breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments. Must be hardworking, reliable, punctual, and team-oriented. Must be able to work in a fast-paced, active, and sometimes noisy environment. Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and remain active for extended periods. Veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience is helpful but not required. Compensation and Benefits $16.00 per hour Employee discount This is a seasonal position designed to provide additional support during our peak holiday season. Employment is expected to conclude in January.
