Job Description

Kennel Manager Are you interested in bringing your passion and experience in kennels or dogs to your next career move? Do you have love and pride for keeping a wonderful dog training and boarding facility looking and offering its best? We have a large dog ranch located in the Highland Lakes area of the Hill Country near Marble Falls, understand the challenges around starting and maintaining your own dog-training business/kennel, and are ready to invite the right person to join Barkingham Palace as Kennel Manager. Our successful, family-owned kennel property is over 7.5 acres with more than 68 large indoor/outdoor dog runs. This is a unique opportunity for the right person to build upon and shape the kennel's future in terms of dog training and kennel management. For the right applicant, there is a special opportunity to live on the premises for 1-6 months until he/she can find a suitable location to live nearby.   • Interpersonal skills: Kennel managers must interact with owners as they drop off and pick up their pets and maintain a positive relationship with kennel staff.
  • Physical stamina: People in this role may need to be on their feet for long hours at a time or may need to crawl, bend, and lift to work with the animals.
OPERATIONAL
Required:
Demonstrable experience working as a Dog Trainer (1-10 yrs), strong dog handling skills, and able to articulate training philosophy. A love for dogs. Patient and enthusiastic.
  • Ensuring that the training areas are clean and tidy.
  • Teaching clients appropriate training methods to enforce and maintain behaviors and skills learned by their dogs during training sessions.
  • Effective communication with customers, staff, etc such as excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
KENNEL/SUPERVISORY
Required:
General people and/or operations management experience.
  • Responsible for the daily operations of the kennel and care of the animals. Training and supervising other kennel workers and staff. (Can train)
  • Ensuring cages, runs, and the overall facility is cleaned on a regular basis (Can train)
  • Ensuring the animals are groomed, fed exercised, and generally cared for (Can train)
  • Monitoring the behavior, safety and comfort of boarded animals (Can train)
  • Proper medication administration for all animals
  • Developing and enforcing kennel policies and procedures
ADMINISTRATIVE
Required:
General management experience (does not need to be kennel-based) and comfortable managing up to 5 staff members
  • Creating work schedule. (can train)
  • Scheduling boarding and training appointments, verifying bookings, and inquiring into overdue payments.

PREFERRED
:
  • Professional Dog Training Certification or Titled Dog experience.
  • College degree

Full-time Pay:
$13.00 - $18.00 per hour (negotiable for right candidate)
