Job Summary Join our dynamic team as an Apprentice Dog Trainer, where you will embark on an exciting journey to develop your skills in animal behavior and training. This paid apprenticeship offers hands-on experience working with dogs and other animals, helping pet owners improve obedience, behavior, and overall pet well-being. You will assist experienced trainers in implementing training techniques, handling animals safely, and supporting positive pet behaviors. Our goal would be to grow this individual into a position as our full time dog trainer here at the resort. Responsibilities Support experienced American Kennel Club CGC Evaluator dog trainers in delivering obedience training programs Assist with dog handling during training sessions, grooming, sitting, and kennel duties to ensure dogs are comfortable and well-cared for Learn how to engage with pet owners to communicate training progress and provide basic guidance on pet behavior support strategies Maintain a clean and safe environment by cleaning training spaces regularly Participate in classroom-style training sessions to learn effective pet training techniques Help monitor animal behavior and document progress to support tailored training plans Qualifications Genuine passion for animals with an interest in veterinary or animal care fields such as veterinary technician or assistant experience preferred Experience working with dogs or horses, including handling, grooming, or pet sitting is highly valued Familiarity with animal handling, restraint techniques, and training methods Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting and standing for extended periods Demonstrated commitment to animal welfare and client service excellence Prior kennel experience or pet grooming background is a plus This paid apprenticeship opportunity provides a comprehensive introduction to the world of dog training while fostering your growth in animal behavior expertise.
