Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Cosmetology School Instructor to join our education team. Duties Report to the Director of Education and coordinate daily responsibilities, student assignments, activities, and other operational needs. Provide overall management and active supervision of students assigned to the clinic floor. Assist and supervise students while they perform services on clients, providing guidance and intervention when appropriate. Provide consistent, productive coaching to students in guest services, hands-on practical skills, technical performance, professionalism, and overall educational objectives. Conduct individual and group demonstrations, including pop-up demonstrations, based on student needs and opportunities identified on the clinic floor. Ensure students perform services within their demonstrated level of competency and seek instructor assistance or approval when required. Monitor client consultations, service preparation, procedures, finishing work, and overall client experience. Review and verify student services as required by NCC procedures. Ensure all color usage and other required product information is consistently and accurately recorded according to NCC procedures. Ensure client and student services are priced accurately and consistently according to current NCC pricing policies. Support and promote NCC retail initiatives and help students develop appropriate product knowledge, recommendation skills, and retail awareness. Reinforce proper sanitation, disinfection, infection-control, health, and safety practices at all times. Help maintain the cleanliness, organization, appearance, and professional environment of the clinic floor. Ensure students properly clean and maintain their workstations and appropriately use and care for NCC tools, equipment, products, and supplies. Monitor student attendance, participation, practical assignments, clinic activities, and completion of required work as assigned. Assist students in developing time management, communication, customer service, problem-solving, and other professional skills necessary for salon and industry employment. Provide clear, respectful, timely, and constructive feedback regarding student performance and areas requiring improvement. Assist with client concerns or service issues and involve the Lead Floor Instructor or school leadership when appropriate. Support efficient clinic operations, including student and client flow, service timing, workstation utilization, and appropriate use of clinic resources. Maintain accurate student, service, disciplinary, and other documentation as required by NCC. Attend staff meetings, training sessions, professional development activities, and school events as required. Collaborate with other instructors, administrative staff, and leadership to provide a consistent educational experience for students. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Current California cosmetology license in good standing, as required for the position. Meets applicable requirements to provide instruction in an approved cosmetology educational environment. Practical experience in cosmetology, salon services, or the professional beauty industry preferred. Previous teaching, training, coaching, mentoring, supervisory, or leadership experience preferred. Strong knowledge of cosmetology techniques, sanitation and disinfection practices, client consultation, salon operations, and professional standards. Ability to demonstrate cosmetology techniques and clearly explain concepts to students with varying experience and learning styles. Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to effectively supervise multiple students and client services simultaneously. Ability to provide constructive feedback and appropriately address performance or conduct concerns. Dependable, professional, organized, and capable of exercising sound judgment in an educational clinic environment.
