Job Summary:

The Barber Instructor is responsible for educating and training students in the art and science of barbering at Miami Barber Institute. This role involves delivering engaging classroom instruction, providing hands-on training, and ensuring students meet state licensing requirements. The ideal candidate is an experienced, licensed barber passionate about mentoring and preparing future professionals for successful careers in the barbering industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Instruction & Training:

Teach students barbering techniques, including cutting, shaving, styling, coloring, and chemical treatments. Provide hands-on demonstrations and supervise students in the classroom and clinic floor. Ensure students develop strong technical skills, professionalism, and customer service abilities. Educate students on sanitation, hygiene, and safety regulations in compliance with state board requirements. Prepare and deliver engaging lesson plans following the school's curriculum and state guidelines.

Student Support & Development:

Monitor and assess student progress through practical and written evaluations. Provide constructive feedback and individualized coaching to support student learning. Encourage and motivate students to develop confidence and professionalism. Assist students with state board exam preparation and career readiness.

Compliance & Administrative Duties:

Maintain accurate attendance records, grades, and student evaluations. Ensure compliance with state licensing regulations and accreditation standards. Keep the classroom and clinic area clean, organized, and equipped with necessary supplies. Participate in faculty meetings, training, and school events as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

Licensed Barber with 3 years of professional experience (Instructor license required or willingness to obtain). Requirements, prior teaching or training experience. Strong knowledge of current barbering techniques, tools, and industry trends.

Theory Knowledge:

Strong understanding of barbering theory, including haircut design, hair and scalp structure, sanitation and infection control, shaving procedures, facial services, chemical services, product knowledge, and state board rules and regulations.

Practical Knowledge:

Ability to teach, demonstrate, supervise, and evaluate hands-on barbering skills, including clipper and shear techniques, straight-razor shaving, beard and mustache grooming, client consultation, safety procedures, professional service standards, and clinic-floor performance. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Passion for teaching and mentoring aspiring barbers. Ability to work well with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles. Proficiency in technology and learning platforms, computer skills for record-keeping and lesson planning. Required to be Bilingual (English and Spanish)
