Crematory Operator / Transport Specialist
Slone & Co. Funeral Directors - Cleveland, Ohio At Slone & Co. Funeral Directors, we are committed to providing compassionate, professional, and dignified care to every family we serve. We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Crematory Operator / Transport Specialist to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in meaningful work, values professionalism, and understands the importance of treating every individual entrusted to our care with dignity and respect. Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform cremations in accordance with all state regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
  • Verify all required documentation and identification before each cremation.
  • Maintain accurate cremation logs, chain-of-custody records, and equipment documentation.
  • Operate, inspect, clean, and perform routine maintenance of crematory equipment.
  • Prepare cremated remains for return to families and funeral homes with accuracy and care.
  • Assist with the transportation of deceased individuals from hospitals, nursing facilities, residences, medical examiners, and other locations.
  • Transfer decedents into and out of refrigeration while maintaining proper identification procedures.
  • Assist funeral directors with decedent care and other operational duties as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and respectful crematory and preparation facility.
  • Follow all OSHA, EPA, and company safety standards while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Current Certified Crematory Operator (CCO) certification or equivalent crematory certification is highly preferred.
  • Previous experience operating a crematory is highly preferred.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver up to 100 pounds with assistance and safely operate removal equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to following established procedures.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the funeral home team.
  • Previous experience in funeral service, healthcare, or mortuary transportation is preferred. What We Offer
