Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (Rotating evenings, weekends, and on-call availability required) About Us Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home is a family-owned funeral service provider in beautiful Mid-Coast Maine. Our dedicated team is committed to delivering compassionate, respectful, and high-quality care to grieving families during their time of need. We are seeking an empathetic and highly professional individual to join our team in a dual Funeral Attendant / Administrative Assistant role. No prior funeral industry experience is required —we provide comprehensive on-the-job training for the right candidate. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products and Google products a must. Key Responsibilities Administrative Support Greeting visiting families and clients with warmth and professionalism. Answer incoming calls, take detailed messages, and triage urgent requests. Schedule appointments using Google Calendar. Prepare official documentation (burial/cremation permits, release forms). Design and produce memorial products (register books, memorial cards, memorial DVDs). Assist Funeral Directors with logistical details surrounding upcoming services. Funeral & Removal Operations Respond to locations of death and facilitate initial contact with families, first responders, and medical professionals. Respectfully transfer decedents into our care in strict accordance with tracking and safety policies. Complete detailed inventory logs of personal belongings. Prepare facilities and set up spaces for visiting hours, funerals, and cemetery events. Maintain facility cleanliness and assist with corporate vehicle fleet maintenance.
Qualifications & Requirements Location:
Must reside within a 30-minute radius of Rockland, ME to support timely on-call response.
Physical & Professional:
Ability to lift a reasonable amount of weight and assist with physical transfers.
Driving Record:
Must hold a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Licensure & Background:
Ability to obtain appropriate state licensure upon hire (subject to a background check).
Professionalism:
Maintains a polished, professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
Schedule & Availability Base Hours:
40 hours per week (Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM).
On-Call Rotation:
Evening, weekend, and holiday availability required on a scheduled rotation to handle urgent matters outside business hours. ($100 stipend for on call week and call out stipend)

From $20.00 per hour
