We are looking and needing a Funeral Assistant to help our Funeral Directors at our location in New Mexico.

Job Summary Join our compassionate team as a Funeral Assistant, where you will play a vital role in supporting families during their most difficult moments. This energetic position involves assisting with funeral and mortuary services, ensuring respectful handling of remains, coordinating event logistics, and providing exceptional customer service. Your dedication will help create meaningful and comforting experiences for grieving families while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and care. This paid position offers an opportunity to develop skills in funeral directing, event coordination, and client communication within a supportive environment. Duties Assist with the preparation, transportation, and handling of deceased remains following safe lifting practices and manual handling protocols Support families through bereavement support services, offering compassionate guidance and clear communication Coordinate funeral arrangements and event planning to ensure smooth ceremonies that meet families' wishes Drive funeral vehicles safely to transport remains or family members as needed, maintaining proper records of all trips Manage administrative tasks such as records management, documentation, and scheduling to streamline operations Provide exceptional customer service by engaging with families, answering questions, and offering empathetic support throughout the process Participate in on-call coverage to respond promptly to urgent requests or last-minute arrangements Experience Previous experience in funeral & mortuary services or related fields such as event planning or customer service is preferred Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure Experience working directly with families during sensitive times, providing compassionate support and clear communication Knowledge of safe lifting practices, heavy lifting techniques, and manual handling safety standards Administrative experience involving records management, appointment scheduling, or event coordination is advantageous Valid driver's license with a clean driving record for transportation duties Ability to work flexible hours including on-call shifts to accommodate emergency or last-minute arrangements.
