Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer

Job Description

The ideal candidate will provide families with knowledgeable and compassionate guidance while ensuring every service is handled with dignity, respect, and attention to detail. This is a full-time position that includes participation in a required on-call rotation. Responsibilities Meet with families to arrange and coordinate funeral, memorial, burial, and cremation services Guide families through service options, merchandise, documentation, and required authorizations Perform embalming, preparation, dressing, cosmetology, casketing, and other related care Coordinate visitations, funeral services, graveside services, and transfers Complete and maintain accurate case files, permits, death certificates, and other required documentation Communicate with cemeteries, clergy, medical facilities, transportation providers, and other outside organizations Perform removals and transport decedents as needed Participate in the required evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday on-call rotation Respond promptly and professionally to calls received during assigned on-call periods Maintain the preparation room, equipment, vehicles, and facilities according to professional and regulatory standards Provide every family with compassionate, respectful, and professional service Follow all company policies and applicable local, state, and federal requirements
Required Education and Technical Skills:
High School diploma or the equivalent Valid state-issued Funeral Director license (as per state licensing requirement) or be eligible to obtain the required Arizona licensure within 30 days of hire Completed Mortuary School A minimum of one (1) year experience in the funeral industry (preferred) Valid state-issued driver's license Knowledge in computer skills in MS Office and Google Drive Time Management and Detail Orientated Must be willing and able to participate in the required on-call rotation Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills Ability to remain professional and compassionate in emotional or sensitive situations Ability to manage multiple cases and changing priorities Ability to safely perform the physical responsibilities associated with removals, preparation, and funeral services Dependable, responsive, and able to work independently when necessary
