In Person Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Kentucky Licensed Funeral Director to join our professional funeral service team. This position is designed for an established funeral director with a minimum of five years of professional experience who is capable of independently managing arrangements, directing funeral and memorial services, coordinating with families and outside organizations, and providing an exceptional standard of care throughout the funeral process. The successful candidate will have strong organizational and communication skills, sound professional judgment, and the ability to manage multiple families and services while maintaining close attention to detail. This position offers a base salary of $85,000 per year , with opportunities for additional compensation through optional paid removals and performance-based bonuses . Primary ResponsibilitiesFamily Care & Arrangements Meet with families to make funeral, memorial, burial, cremation, and other disposition arrangements. Guide families through available service and merchandise options while respecting individual wishes, traditions, budgets, and religious or cultural preferences. Obtain and accurately document information necessary for funeral arrangements, permits, death certificates, authorizations, and other required documentation. Communicate clearly and compassionately with families throughout the entire funeral process. Maintain regular contact with families to ensure arrangements and service details are completed accurately and on schedule. Provide knowledgeable guidance while allowing families to make informed decisions without unnecessary pressure. Maintain strict confidentiality and professional discretion. Funeral & Memorial Service Direction Plan, coordinate, and direct funeral, memorial, graveside, and committal services. Coordinate service details with clergy, celebrants, musicians, cemeteries, crematories, florists, honor guards, fraternal organizations, and other participants. Prepare service schedules, procession instructions, staffing assignments, and other operational details. Direct visitations and funeral services while ensuring professional presentation and attention to detail. Coordinate funeral processions and transportation. Ensure the funeral home, chapel, visitation areas, vehicles, and necessary merchandise are appropriately prepared for services. Anticipate and resolve service-related issues professionally and discreetly. Represent the funeral home professionally when interacting with families, community organizations, churches, cemeteries, and other funeral service professionals. Documentation & Case Management Maintain accurate and complete case files. Obtain and process information required for death certificates, burial permits, cremation authorizations, transit permits, and related documents. Coordinate with physicians, hospitals, hospices, nursing facilities, coroners, medical examiners, cemeteries, crematories, and government agencies as necessary. Complete required authorizations, contracts, statements, and other funeral service documentation. Monitor individual cases from initial notification through final disposition to ensure all necessary tasks are completed. Maintain compliance with applicable funeral service laws, regulations, professional standards, and funeral home policies. Team & Operational Responsibilities Work collaboratively with funeral directors, embalmers, apprentices, administrative personnel, and support staff. Provide guidance and mentorship to apprentices and less-experienced staff when appropriate. Assist with daily funeral home operations and service scheduling. Communicate effectively with the preparation room regarding service schedules, viewing requirements, clothing, cosmetics, casketing, and other family requests. Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development. Assist management in identifying opportunities to improve family service, operational efficiency, and professional standards. Maintain professional appearance and conduct consistent with the standards expected of an experienced licensed funeral director. Required Qualifications Current Kentucky Funeral Director License in good standing, or the ability to obtain Kentucky licensure through reciprocity. Minimum of five years of professional funeral directing experience. Demonstrated ability to independently conduct funeral arrangements and direct funeral services. Thorough understanding of funeral service procedures and professional practices. Knowledge of applicable funeral service documentation and regulatory requirements. Excellent interpersonal and family-service skills. Strong written and verbal communication abilities. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to independently manage multiple cases and competing deadlines. Sound professional judgment and problem-solving ability. High level of professionalism, integrity, discretion, and attention to detail. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to perform the physical responsibilities associated with funeral directing and funeral service. Preferred Qualifications More than five years of experience as a licensed funeral director. Experience in a traditional, full-service funeral home environment. Experience serving a diverse range of families and service types. Experience mentoring apprentices or developing less-experienced funeral service professionals. Familiarity with funeral home case-management and arrangement software. Experience coordinating military honors, clergy, cemeteries, crematories, and complex funeral services. Associate or bachelor's degree in mortuary science, funeral service, management, business, or a related discipline. Compensation Base Salary:

$85,000 per year This position also provides opportunities to earn compensation beyond the stated base salary. Optional Removal Compensation Licensed funeral directors may elect to participate in compensated removal and transfer assignments outside of their regularly assigned responsibilities. Removal participation is optional and provides additional per-call compensation beyond the employee's regular salary. Participation in additional removals is not required to receive the stated $85,000 base salary. Performance Bonuses Additional bonus opportunities may be available based upon individual performance, professional contribution, service quality, operational goals, and/or overall funeral home performance. Accordingly, total annual compensation may exceed $85,000 depending upon the employee's voluntary removal participation and earned bonuses.

We are seeking an established professional who can assume responsibility for families and services with limited supervision and who understands the level of judgment, organization, and professionalism required in funeral service. The successful candidate should be capable of receiving a new case, meeting with the family, completing arrangements and necessary documentation, coordinating all parties involved, directing the visitation and funeral service, and following the case through final disposition.
