We are looking for a funeral director who is comfortable working directly with families and can confidently manage all aspects of a funeral service, from the initial arrangement conference through the conclusion of the service. ResponsibilitiesMeet with families and make funeral arrangements independentlyCoordinate and direct funeral, graveside, synagogue, chapel, and cemetery servicesPrepare obituaries, death certificates, funeral program materials, and other required paperworkCommunicate and coordinate with clergy, cemeteries, crematories, newspapers, and other service providersOversee all details of funeral services to ensure that each service runs smoothlyMaintain clear and compassionate communication with families throughout the funeral processDrive funeral vehicles and assist with caskets, equipment, and service setup as neededWork closely with other members of the funeral home staffQualificationsCurrent Massachusetts Funeral Director License requiredExperience independently making funeral arrangements and directing servicesExperience with Jewish funeral traditions preferred, but not requiredCompassionate and professional manner with excellent customer-service skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExtremely organized and detail-orientedDependable, efficient, and able to manage multiple responsibilitiesStrong judgment and problem-solving skillsComfortable using computers and learning funeral-home software and other programsAble to work independently while also being a collaborative member of a small teamPhysically capable of performing the hands-on responsibilities associated with funeral serviceCompensation & BenefitsHealth insurance reimbursement401(k) planAdditional compensation may be available based on performance
