Job Description

The Laundry Attendant supports a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents by collecting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens and personal clothing in accordance with facility policies, infection control standards, and resident rights. This role helps ensure residents have clean garments and linens available daily, while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Collect, sort, and transport soiled linens and resident clothing using proper infection control procedures. Operate laundry equipment, including washers, dryers, and folding machines, safely and correctly. Wash, dry, fold, and organize linens and resident clothing according to established guidelines. Label, track, and distribute resident clothing to the appropriate rooms or units. Maintain accurate handling of resident belongings, and report missing or damaged items promptly. Use appropriate chemicals and detergents safely, following Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and facility procedures. Clean and maintain the laundry room, equipment, carts, and work areas, keeping them neat and sanitary. Follow infection prevention protocols, including proper use of PPE, hand hygiene, and isolation precautions. Communicate respectfully with residents, families, and staff, and respond to laundry-related requests as needed. Assist with inventory and stocking of linens and laundry supplies. Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or supply shortages to the supervisor immediately. Perform other related duties as assigned to support the facility's operations.
