Job Description
Work Shift Day Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 Summary This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient centered care by performing essential linen functions throughout the hospital and external sites. Primary work will consist of unloading clean linen, loading dirty linen, some washing of linens, assembling linen carts, and delivering linen carts and supplies. All work is completed in a friendly, safe/sanitary way following infection control guidelines, universal precautions and directives from EVS Management Team. Job Description Job Duties Participates in unloading clean linen from contracted services truck and transport down to Linen Department where linens are inventoried and placed on carts. Pushes or pulls linen carts to appropriate patient care areas. Drives the hospital truck with clean linen deliveries and dirty pickup of linens from external hospital sites in a safe way. Loads and unload the washer and dryer used in the department. Uses the proper chemicals in the washer in the department. Masters correct types of linens used in different areas of the hospital and external sites. Observes and trains on the proper use of standard precautions. Responds to linen request made from patient care areas. Keeps work area/equipment clean and safe. Follows universal precautions while handling dirty linen. Rotates weekends/holidays as assigned. Participates in meetings and projects. Orders linen to keep the inventory operational and functional. Follows Mercy's safety guidelines, carries out job-specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents and injuries. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must be able to speak, read, and write in fluent English. Basic math skills, including the ability to count Computer literacy Must maintain neat appearance and professional image Courteous guest relation skills Adapt to seeing blood, body fluids and body waste. Hospital supplied scrubs will be worn in this position for infection control standards. Professional Experience Prior linen room experience preferred Education High School Diploma/GED preferred
