Job Description

Director of First Impressions - Client Experience/Front Desk Nail Salon ipolish Nail Bar Phoenix, AZ Job Details Part-time $17 - $20 an hour 5 hours ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Receptionist experience within education industry Schedule management Team management Attention to detail Restaurant experience Full Job Description Director of First ImpressionsClient Experience & Salon Flow | ipolish Nail Bar This is not a traditional receptionist position. ipolish Nail Bar is looking for an energetic, polished and highly engaged Director of First Impressions to run the front-of-house experience and help keep our busy salon moving smoothly throughout the day. You will be the first person our clients see, the person helping coordinate the flow of the salon, and the person our technicians rely on to keep appointments, turns and client transitions moving. If you are looking for a position where you can sit behind a desk and wait for the phone to ring, this will not be the right fit. What You'll Own You will be responsible for the client experience from arrival through checkout while actively managing the flow of the salon.
Your responsibilities will include:
Warmly greeting and engaging every client who enters the salon Checking clients in and out accurately and efficiently Managing technician turns and helping maintain fair, organized salon flow Staying aware of appointment timing, walk-ins, technician availability and developing bottlenecks Communicating proactively with technicians throughout the day Answering phones and assisting with client questions and appointment needs Handling routine client concerns calmly, professionally and diplomatically Recognizing when an issue needs management involvement and escalating it appropriately Keeping the reception and client-facing areas polished and presentation-ready Learning our services, pricing, promotions and salon procedures quickly Anticipating what needs to happen next rather than waiting to be told Taking direction from management and executing it consistently The Person We're Looking For You are naturally energetic, outgoing and comfortable talking with people. You notice things. You move quickly. You can have three things happening at once, determine what needs your attention first, and remain pleasant while doing it. You don't need someone standing beside you telling you every next step. At the same time, you understand that this is not a management position . You can take direction well, follow established systems, and know when something should be elevated to the salon manager rather than handled independently. You will likely thrive here if you: Have a naturally warm, confident and engaging personality Enjoy a fast-paced environment and being on your feet Think quickly and solve everyday problems without becoming flustered Learn new systems and procedures quickly Are extremely dependable and punctual Can communicate diplomatically with demanding or frustrated clients Are comfortable directing salon flow and communicating with a large team of technicians Pay attention to details without losing sight of the bigger picture Take feedback and direction professionally See something that needs attention and take care of it Understand that exceptional hospitality means being actively engaged—not simply being friendly This Position Is Probably NOT for
You If:
You prefer a quiet or slow-paced work environment You want a job where most of your time is spent sitting You are uncomfortable initiating conversations with clients You become easily overwhelmed when several things happen at once You need frequent reminders about routine responsibilities You have difficulty accepting direction or feedback You tend to wait for someone else to notice or solve a problem You are uncomfortable handling an unhappy client professionally You are frequently late, call off often, or have inconsistent availability Experience Previous salon, spa, hospitality, restaurant, retail or high-volume customer service experience is strongly preferred. Salon experience is helpful, but personality, judgment, reliability and the ability to learn quickly are more important to us. We can teach our systems. We cannot teach someone to naturally care about the client standing in front of them, notice what is happening around them, or bring energy to the room. About ipolish Nail Bar ipolish Nail Bar is a busy, established nail salon where client experience and operational flow matter. Our front desk is not simply a checkout station—it is the command center of the salon . The right person will play an important role in creating an environment that feels welcoming, organized, efficient and elevated from the moment a client walks through the door. If you are energetic, highly dependable, quick on your feet and genuinely enjoy creating a great experience for people, we'd love to hear from you. When Applying Please include a short response to the following question: "A client has been waiting longer than expected, her technician is still finishing another service, two walk-in clients have just arrived, and the phone is ringing. What would you do first, and how would you handle the situation?" We are looking for your natural thought process—there is no need for a perfect answer.
