Job Description

General Manager (Occasional From Home - Toledo/Lima area) RLO, Inc. is a proud franchise owner of Great Clips salons, operating in the Four States area since 1995. With 85+ locations and growing, we are more than a company—we are a close-knit family that thrives on teamwork, support, and shared success. Overview The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, management, coaching, development, and retention of the salon managers to achieve successful employee results and ultimately profitable salons.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manages the selection, training, and development of high-quality salon managers
  • Holds the salon manager accountable for creating and maintaining a culture that promotes the organization's core values
  • Assesses manager performance through: ○ Salon visits ○ Performance reviews ○ Weekly L-10's
  • Provides performance development interventions as needed to ensure salon profitability
  • Performs audits and Quality Connections on salon managers
  • Actively assists managers to consistently follow the Great Clips Operating System and serve as role models for their team members with the goal of achieving brand excellence
  • Ensures managers are aware of and understand all: ○ Cascading messages ○ Changes to process or policy ○ Promotions and events
  • Utilizes communication tools and coaches direct reports to do the same ○ Google chat ○ Google calendar ○ Email
  • Manages recruitment processes to adequately staff all salons for customer growth
  • Provides effective onboarding of new managers per written process
  • Reviews salon schedules to ensure all shifts are filled as determined to be needed through the scheduling process, ensuring fairness for all employees
  • Completes orientations for all new RLO employees
  • Creates a culture of accountability
  • Ensures state board law and rule compliance in all salons
  • Ensures Great Clips required training compliance
  • Performs salon manager duties in the case of a manager vacancy
  • Participates in weekly General Manager L10 meetings
  • Occasional in-person meetings required
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance and punctuality
  • Consistently follows all organizational policies and processes

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has supervisory responsibilities for the salon managers and the salon staff in the absence of a salon manager.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use arms, hands, and fingers. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Some driving will be required.
Travel:
Travel as the job demands to the salons is required. Travel includes both in and out-of-state as well as overnight travel.
Education and Experience:
  • Current cosmetology or barber license as required by state/province regulations.
  • 4+ years of retail management experience, or a B.
A. in business or related field with 3+ years multi-unit experience, or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.
Additional Qualifications:
  • Valid driver's license
  • Located in Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, or Kentucky within 50 miles of salon territory
  • Commitment to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings
  • Commitment to enforcing the 5 Steps to Customer Care with every customer, every time, in every salon
  • Ability to cut hair for an extended period and provide quality haircuts in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively resolve customer issues
  • Moderate experience with computers and smartphones and associated operating systems
  • Moderate experience with office and project management software such as Gmail, Google Sheets & Docs, among other software deemed needed by the company

$65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
