Job Description

Responsibilities:
Perform professional alterations, repairs, and garment modifications with a strong focus on bridal gowns, formalwear, and special-occasion garments Hem, take in, let out, reshape, and adjust garments to achieve a proper fit Work with bridal and formalwear construction including multiple layers, linings, lace, beading, boning, zippers, and delicate fabrics Complete hand sewing and finishing work with attention to detail and professional-quality results Add and construct wedding gown bustles Replace or repair zippers, buttons, hooks, snaps, and other garment closures Take accurate measurements and assist with fittings as needed Evaluate garments and determine appropriate alteration techniques Safely operate sewing machines, sergers, irons/pressing equipment, and other shop equipment Assist with machine embroidery and personalized items based on experience and training Follow customer instructions, work orders, and shop quality standards Maintain an organized, clean, and professional workspace Work collaboratively with other seamstresses and staff to complete garments accurately and on schedule Handle customers' garments—especially bridal and formalwear—with exceptional care Preferred Experience & Qualifications Previous professional sewing, alterations, tailoring, or seamstress experience strongly preferred Bridal and formalwear alteration experience is highly preferred Machine embroidery experience is a plus Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics, sewing techniques, and finishing methods Comfortable working with delicate, specialty, and formalwear fabrics Ability to use both industrial and/or domestic sewing equipment Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Ability to accurately measure, pin, mark, and calculate garment adjustments Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity Ability to problem-solve and determine the best alteration method for each garment Able to work independently while also being part of a team Dependable, organized, and able to manage multiple garments and deadlines Good communication skills and a professional, friendly attitude What We're Looking For Our shop specializes in bridal alterations, formalwear, and embroidery, so experience in one or more of these areas is especially valuable. We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, understands that the little details matter, and is comfortable working on garments connected to some of our customers' biggest life moments.
